Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 1 Review

The Harry Potter franchise is nearing an end, with the release of the last two movies in the series. The books still continue to be bestsellers but the movies' performance is continuing to decline with every new movie. Realizing this, Warner Bros. decided to milk the maximum possible money out of the last remaining movie, and for this reason, the last movie is being released in two parts. Following the movies, the video game franchise also obliged and is releasing the last game Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows in two parts. The first part was released recently, and it came out amidst much hype and fanfare.

If the movies' performance was just about average, the games' performance has been steadily declining. The last game got about mixed reviews from critics and fans alike, and the interest in Deathly Hallows rose when the developers announced that the game play was being changed drastically. Sadly, it is the game play which is the biggest let down of this game. Up until Half-Blood Prince, the game play involved Harry's adventures in and around Hogwarts. But In the last game, Harry doesn't go to school at all, following the original plot of the book.Instead, he and his best friends, Ron and Hermione, go around hunting for Voldermort's Horcruxes......wait a minute, why do I need to explain the plot when it's already famous all over the world?!

Talking about the game, there is a lot more action involved compared to the previous game but that doesn't mean that it is a lot of fun. Most of the time, Harry is forced to take cover from the enemy's onslaught, and although Harry has a wide assortment of spells to choose from, aiming the spells from behind cover can get a bit annoying thanks to the shoddy camera angles.

Then there are the subplots. Rescuing Muggles and stealth missions do not make the game play any exciting, and it only makes you wish that there wasn't this unnecessary filler present in the game. The visualizations aren't much to praise either, and the characters appear all mouldy and strange. Perhaps the only saving grace for this game is present for the XBox 360 version, in the form of Kinect extra missions. These are a bit more fun to play than the main game, because you get the feel of casting the spells yourself, but this fun is short-lived and you remember that this wasn't worth playing the whole game for.

So stay clear of this game and buy it only if you're an avid collector! Better yet, use watch the movie when it releases on the 19th, which, hopefully, will be better.

Jim Carrey at His Funniest in These Three Comedies

Jim Carrey has been a comedic staple in the film industry since the early 1980s. He has been a huge comedic contributor to movies but also made us laugh on television as well. Although his acting strengths certainly reside in the comedic category, Carrey has tried to push himself as of late to see if he can also make it as a dramatic actor. His most recent acting confirms that there is a place for him in drama movies as well.

To discover some of Carrey's funniest comedic performances we need to take a trip back in time. The only movies that will be featured are ones that Carrey played a leading role in.

Dumb & Dumber (1994)

Jim Carrey is at his all time funniest in this ridiculously funny comedy. Carrey plays the part of Lloyd Christmas, a limo driver who doesn't have a lot to live for, with best friend Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels). After Llyod recovers a briefcase left by limo passenger Mary Swanson (Lauren Holly), he and his best pal set out to return it to its rightful owner. When they find out that it is filled with a lot of money they decide to write a few IOUs and borrow some money. Their adventures throughout the movie will keep you cracking up the entire time.

Liar Liar (1997)

Fletcher Reed, a lawyer who can't seem to tell the truth, is the personality played by Carrey in this film. Fletcher's son has a very basic wish for his birthday that his Dad wont lie for a whole day. Needless to say this is very hard for Fletcher to accomplish. The most amusing part of the whole movie is watching a lawyer try not to lie once within a day. The movie also stars Maura Tierney as Fletcher's wife Audrey. This film was creatively directed by Tom Shadyac (Evan Almighty, I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry).

Bruce Almighty (2003)

Bruce Nolen (Jim Carrey) was your typical glass half empty kind of guy who lived with his girlfriend Grace (Jennifer Aniston). After complaining about God (Morgan Freeman) too often, God decides to give Bruce a shot to see if he can play God better. Once Bruce realizes that he has ultimate power he has quite a time exploring what he is capable of. The fun wears off when he comes to understand just how much work being God is. Carrey plays this role beautifully.

Jim Carrey has been acting for over a quarter of a century and acted in over 30 films. This article is just a snapshot into that great career. Currently Carrey is work on Mr. Poppers Penguins, a comedy to be released in 2011. This movie is a comedy about a business professional who inherits six penguins and converts his apartment into a winter wonderland causing his life to fall apart.

If you are hungry for additional information on the actor, check out this article on recent Jim Carrey movies. There is so much more to Carrey's career that I also provided this site to learn about all Jim Carrey movies.

Classic V8 Cars As Movie Stars?

Most of us can recall a film or more where the presence of a specific car model has been so distinct and successful during the movie, that its name has become a synonym of the film's title. In this article we host classic V8 cars that have had an iconic appearance in Hollywood movies and have become memorable to many car enthusiasts and not only.

In 1967 Bonnie and Clyde, the classic 1934 Ford V8, the vehicle that is used in the violent bank robberies and finds tragic end with the protagonists in a jaw-dropping ending scene.

The Australian made 1973 Ford Falcon XB in Mad Max(1979). The legendary vehicle, called the "Interceptor", of the highway patrol policeman Max Rockatansky. When Max turns Mad, after his family and friend are killed by a road gang, and his sorrow turns to vengeance, the Interceptor spreads fear to its foes.

A year earlier, in 1978, it is the turn of a 1964 Chevrolet Impala to star in Up in Smoke. In this case the staring car is not fearful or shiny. In fact the interior design of the particular Impala car looks so ridiculously wrong, that let us wonder how deep...Up in Smoke was the fellow that was struck by this inspiration!

The unforgettable 1949 Mercury Coupe in 1955 Rebel Without a Cause. The figure of this car became one of the most memorable in Hollywood's history after James Dean was placed on its driver's seat for the purposes of the film.

The 1963 Cadillac Series 62 convertible that stars alongside Tony Montana (Al Pacino) in 1983 Scarface. Its luxurious exterior appearance with an interior tiger design is maybe an indication of the protagonist's contradictory persona.

The Dodge Charger which hit the market in mid 60's and has appeared in numerous movies ever after. Probably the "role" that is most dominant in our memory is that of "General Lee", the legendary orange car in The Dukes of Hazard TV series.

Back in 1968, the film Bullitt came on the big screen staring a Ford Mustang of the same year. During the film a most classic car chase scene takes place, between the Ford Mustang and a Dodge Charger.

The 1970 Dodge Challenger in 1971 film Vanishing Point. Another cult classic car among the circles of muscle cars enthusiasts. In this film we watch a car that could go 150mph and 0-60 in 5.8secs unleashing hell for one and a half hours.

In 1994 Pulp Fiction the gangster Vincent Vega (John Travolta) has returned from abroad and has just got back his 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu convertible in red colour. In a later scene he is forced to wreck the car in order to prevent his boss' wife dying from overdose.

All these V8 cars could have been a nominee for an award in their corresponding films.
